Phyllis had a total hysterectomy at the age of 26 and, as was then the custom, her doctor put her on Premarin right away. She stayed on her HRT for 25 years. When the WHI studies were released showing the dangers of HRT, she tried to stop her hormone supplements, but the severe dryness she experienced in every membrane of her body made her go back.
