I’m not bloated anymore!

Donna is a 47-year-old mother of four, one of whom is a special needs child. She also works full-time as a special needs teacher. She had a hysterectomy four years ago and has been on Premarin ever since.

Donna was trying to self-wean off her medication. She was truly exhausted during the day and had no energy to deal with her own husband and children (three of whom are still at home) at night.

We first spoke to Donna about a month into her Program. She had dived in headfirst and was already responding well. She and her husband both adopted the dietary guidelines and they loved the results. Donna noticed two things: “I’m losing weight and my colitis isn’t bugging me so much!” Donna began exercising and by the end of a month had lost between 10 and 15 pounds.

We were excited to hear about Donna’s progress, but cautioned her to take her time with her Program. After two months, she was feeling so much better she was anxious to get off all of her medication. “The colitis symptoms are gone! I can eat apples again!!” Donna decided to stop taking her colitis medication and had reduced her Premarin to every other day with no symptoms.

Donna bought cookbooks consistent with the Program’s dietary guidelines and began making healthy meals for her husband and children. She was surprised how much they liked the food. After three months, Donna reported: “I’m not bloated anymore! I have no more pain when I eat. And I don’t crave anything!” In describing her renewed energy level we could just feel the energy and excitement in her voice.

At this point Donna is taking her Premarin only two times a week and is really feeling well. She has no hot flashes or night sweats and experiences only occasional vaginal dryness. Her weight loss is astounding (10 pounds a month) and we discussed ways that she may be using excessive exercise to combat the stress in her life. This can be another form of imbalance that can lead to adrenal fatigue and thereby trigger a relapse of symptoms. She’s now trying to find alternative ways to manage stress.

We were so pleased when Donna told us: “I jump out of bed every morning and into bed each night. I have so much energy, I feel like I could climb trees!” She also welcomes the change for the better within her family: “I can’t tell you how much better life is now. I don’t come so unglued with my son and my family is so much happier — and healthier!
