Women’s stories

“I just had to admit that I couldn’t do this by myself!”

Doris had been in perimenopause for about 10 years. She didn’t talk to her doctor much about menopause and her symptoms. She truly believed she could handle it herself. As Doris’ symptoms of menopause got worse and worse over the years, she remembered reading about the Women to Women clinic. When she found our website, she read the stories and the articles, but decided that she wasn’t ready to admit she needed help. One Saturday she woke up and decided that she couldn’t live the way she’d been living. The anxiety, hot flashes, and fatigue were running her life. So that Saturday morning she went online and signed up for the Personal Program. This began her journey towards wellness and relief of her long-time menopausal symptoms.

“I’d been going through perimenopause for 10 years. My doctor, who was open to natural approaches, recommended a couple years back that I read, The Wisdom of Menopause, by Dr. Christiane Northrup. I got the book and read it several times. I thought it was going to be an easy slide through menopause. I’d been drinking soy lattes all along, trying to exercise, and eating well. But the symptoms just seemed to get worse and worse. I remembered reading about the Women to Women Clinic in Dr. Northrup’s book and decided to Google it. Sure enough, I found your website. I read the articles and stories, and thought the website was really great. However, I couldn’t admit to myself that I needed help. I just wasn’t ready to talk to anyone about it.

“One Saturday morning about three months ago, I woke up and had enough. I didn’t want the anxiety, hot flashes, and fatigue to run my life anymore. I realized that every evening I would come home from work, get into my pajamas, and go back to bed. I just couldn’t live like that anymore. So I made the call to Women to Women’s Personal Program that Saturday morning and signed up for the Personal Program.

“I got my package about a week later and started the Essential Nutrients and Herbal Equilibrium. I have been consistent with taking them every day, which I think has helped a lot. I copied pages out of the New Member Guide and tried to memorize the list of things I could eat. I kept that list in my purse for when I went shopping. I began exercising more, reducing stress, and reducing my exposure to environmental toxins.

“Within the first two months, things started to really calm down. The hot flashes got less intense and the anxiety went away. I remember telling my husband, ‘Wow I can think clearly right now!’ I had forgotten how good I felt before things had gotten so bad. It was wonderful. I felt how I used to feel all the time! People at work have even noticed. I am a supervisor and my team has commented and noticed that I’m much calmer at work. My husband has noticed that I stay awake in the evening and on the weekends. I feel like I’m back in society and it is so nice!

“I continue to call my Wellness Coach periodically. If I feel like I need some adjustments to my Program, she makes suggestions. She’s always very supportive, helpful, and very understanding, so I really appreciate the Wellness Coaches. I even have a friend on the Personal Program. It’s great! At work we talk about how we’re feeling, what works, and what we’ve read on the website. It’s kind of cool to have a partner!

“I think I just needed to realize that getting help much easier than enduring my symptoms alone. I did not have to admit defeat because I needed help. I realized there is no reason in suffering if I don’t have to. So I would say to other women reading this story, don’t think you’re admitting defeat if you get help, because it is just so much better having all this support! It’s like having a whole bunch of new friends.”
