Women’s stories
“This was the first time anyone had acknowledged I was in menopause.”
Denise was in denial about menopause and the effects it would have on her body.
She figured she could “think herself through it” and get by without symptoms.
In November of 2006 Denise had her first hot flash during the night. In the following
year, her menopausal symptoms got worse. She was unable to concentrate, unable to
focus, unable to sleep, very anxious, and even short tempered. After an unsuccessful
discussion with her gynecologist, Denise finally had enough and started researching
menopause on-line. Read about how she found Women to Women’s Personal Program
and was able to right her hormonal imbalance naturally.
“I swore I would not have a hot flash. My six sisters and mother went through
the change without help, and I knew I would too. I figured I could just think myself
through not having hot flashes. I decided to talk about the whole menopause process
with my gynecologist, but she was quite young and did not give me effective counseling.
In fact, she didn’t think women suffered memory loss through menopause and
she didn’t see menopause as ‘serious.’
“I had my first hot flash during the night in November of 2006. Afterwards,
I tried to act like I didn’t have it. I moved on. In the following few months,
I realized that I was unable to decipher, remember, and articulate important information.
When I had meetings, I never wanted to go because I was so anxious and impatient
at them. In March of 2007, I began to have even more health issues. I ended up with
high blood pressure, high cholesterol, insomnia, and my nerves were on edge. My
doctor wanted to put me on both blood pressure and cholesterol medication. I finally
decided I’d had enough and started to do my own research on menopause.
“I found Women to Women’s Personal Program in December of 2007. The
on-line quiz confirmed I was in menopause. This was the first time anyone had indeed
acknowledged I was even in menopause. I started taking the Essential Nutrients and
Herbal Equilibrium right away. I quickly changed my eating habits and began the
28 day eating plan — and followed it to the letter. Every Sunday I would buy
the next seven days worth of food. I cooked my meals ahead of time and brought my
lunch, dinner, and snacks to work. I made sure to eat three meals a day and two
snacks, which meant I had to start eating breakfast every day. In the last 25 years
prior to this program, I had not eaten breakfast. I never realized how important
it was.
Once I was done with the 28-day eating plan, I made my own menu, being careful to
include all four food groups with every meal. One of the biggest food changes I
made was to discontinue eating rice cakes and popcorn. They were my favorite and
I’d been eating popcorn and rice cakes every day for the last 7 years! I went
cold turkey, so to speak. I stopped skipping meals, I stopped fasting, and I started
eating breakfast. All of the sudden I was back to feeling 100% normal.
“My doctor was no longer pushing me to go on the cholesterol medication —
after two years. I had managed to naturally normalize my numbers by following the
program. In fact, he told me I didn’t have to see him every six months anymore,
and I could come see him once a year! Now I am always trying to teach people with
health issues about changing your diet and lifestyle. Life as I knew it was not
over because of menopause!”
