Improvement after years of frustration
Nina had suffered heavy bleeding for the past four years. Although she had been diagnosed with fibroids, her physician was not convinced they were the primary cause of the bleeding. He prescribed a number of hormonal drugs, but they didn’t reduce the bleeding and made Nina feel awful. By this stage the chronic condition had left her anemic, and she required separate treatment for that.
At the same time, Nina began to develop other symptoms of perimenopause common to women over 50, especially fatigue, PMS, irritability, fuzzy thinking and a loss of sexual desire. She turned to the Personal Program because it promised a solution without any more prescription drugs.
Nina began her Essential Nutrients as soon as they arrived, and had her first nursing consultation about a week later. We suggested she add an exercise component to her Program. She immediately joined Curves and began going 4–5 times a week.
We had a follow-up call with Nina about a month later. She reported that almost all her symptoms were improved. She was especially thankful for the renewed energy and mood. Her whole outlook was changed for the better.
As we had suggested, she had been reading The Wisdom of Menopause with special interest because of the passages on fibroids. Dr. Northrup believes that fibroids are often related to relationship problems. That struck home with Nina. She’s divorced — still battling her ex over money issues — and had a long-term relationship with a man she likes but doesn’t love. Happily, Nina now feels she has the strength to resolve both situations.
And we know she will succeed, because she’s in charge of her well-being now. Nina loves the Program and gives us great credit for the changes in her life. But as you can tell, we were just a little help — she has done all the work!
