Women’s stories
“If you don’t explain something thoroughly, I won’t believe you.”
After Xiomara, 34, had her second child, she had a hunch that her hormones were out of balance. It started when she went on birth control and began to gain weight. When she began losing sleep and losing her desire, she knew it was time to do something about it. Here’s what she told us:
“I was frustrated with things going nowhere. I had gained weight, wasn’t sleeping, felt cranky and irritable, and felt no desire to be with my husband sexually. I knew something was out of whack, so I spoke to my doctor about it. She said — and yes, she was a woman! — that I was probably just overwhelmed with being a mommy and a lot of it was in my head. Well, this made me feel even worse because I knew it wasn’t just in my head. I didn’t feel this way after my first child was born.
“Before long, I started to feel my chest tightening from all of my anxiety — and it really scared me. I had to do something, and I knew my doctor wasn’t going to help me. I found Women to Woman on the internet, and I have to say I was very skeptical at first. I didn’t want to pay money for something that wasn’t going to work. I took your quiz and saw I was in the moderate-to-severe range, and I called. The woman I spoke to on the phone was very logical. She encouraged me to take the information and show it to my doctor.
“I decided to give the Personal Program a try. I realized right away, as I took the nutrients and started to shop and cook differently, that I was sleeping through the night. I mean I’m actually sleeping deeply enough to have dreams again! It has been at least a year since I’ve slept this way. I wake up and I feel rested. I also noticed that I don’t get the carb cravings I used to get. It was like a thirst. I couldn’t quench it until I had something sugary. After reading your nutritional guide, I realized I may have been insulin resistant and on my way to type 2 diabetes. I’ve also noticed that I don’t get the crash-and-burn feeling I used to have in the middle of the day either. Between 11 and 2 o’clock, I felt like I had to sleep at my desk at work!
“I’ve been taking the Personal Program in steps. The first step was changing the way we eat as a family, and now I’m trying to wean myself off of Pepsi. I’m at about one-third of what I used to have. I get to the gym four times per week and I don’t have gas or bloating like I used to. My husband has noticed I’m not as snippy. I guess I don’t go from zero to a screaming banshee anymore, so that’s good! What I’m waiting for now is for my libido to come back. It’s definitely getting better, that’s for sure, but I know from your nurse–educators that I have to give that more time.
“I like the fact that you keep calling to check on me! I like the individual packets of Essential Nutrients. I like the fact that the nutritional book relates so well to the Program. I am the type of person who thinks things to death. If you don’t explain something thoroughly, I won’t believe you. Women to Women’s Personal Program makes sense to me, and I can’t wait to tell my mother and my sister about it.”
