Read what women just like you say about the Personal Program for Better Bones
With bone health, you won’t have any physical symptoms or other indications
if the condition of your bones starts to decline. That’s why many women want
to share their own personal experiences and the challenges they’ve overcome
on their way to healthier bones, and bodies. As with many issues in women’s
health, the information we give each other is often as valuable as the guidance
we get from our practitioners.
The following stories on bone health are true, told by real women who often reveal
intimate details about their lives in order to help other women. We have changed
names and other identifying features to protect their privacy.

"Anything is
superior to taking bone drugs!" Marcy, 68, struggling with her right leg
since a knee replacement, fell while exercising and broke her hip. Marcy had been
taking calcium for the last 20 years, exercising and eating healthier as her doctor
had recommended. After doing much research, Marcy became frustrated with her doctor’s
recommendation of continuing with calcium supplementation alone or going on the
bone drug Boniva. She decided to take her health in her own hands and heal her fracture
naturally.
"The peace of mind
is the best part..." Mary, 77, a 15-year breast cancer survivor, had a wake-up
call when she was diagnosed with osteoporosis and told she had to stop exercising.
Uncomfortable with the medications she was taking, she sought an alternative.
“I’m young, and
I thought had healthy bones... then I broke my leg!” Rosalina, a young,
professional woman, had always just assumed her bones were healthy. As a child,
she had grown up drinking milk regularly, and spent her days as a rough-and-tumble
tomboy, climbing trees, riding bikes, and generally being a daredevil. But at age
26, Rosalina suffered a nasty leg fracture that required complicated surgery to
repair. She was laid up for weeks and began to reevaluate her bone health. That’s
why, during the initial stages of her recovery, Rosalina joined the Personal Program
for Better Bones.
“Women should be made
aware that they have a choice!” Despite her doctor’s skepticism,
Sonia found the confidence to address her osteoporosis on her own terms using diet,
exercise, and Women to Women’s Personal Program. Now she’s doing great,
and her bones are, too!
“My bones started
aching, and I felt like an old person!” Rose was on hormone therapy
when she was diagnosed with osteoporosis. Her doctor put her on Fosamax, then Actonel,
both of which caused unpleasant side effects. Rose stopped taking hormones and began
her own research into her health problems. She came across Dr. Brown’s book,
Better Bones, Better Body, and then scheduled an appointment. Now, she
is supporting her bone health naturally with diet and lifestyle changes that have
made her feel better and much more energetic.
“I feel better today
than I did when I was 21!” Sarah, 56, has a strong family history
for osteoporosis, but she was still devastated when she found out she had osteopenia.
After trying Actonel and experiencing several disturbing side effects, she found
help with Dr. Brown, and now feels she finally has control over her health.
“If we treat our bodies
well...” Maggie had a total hysterectomy at the age of 23. By the
time she was 40, doctors told her she had the bones of a 72-year-old. After trying
Fosamax and Actonel and reading about “dead jaw syndrome” she found
Dr. Brown. Since working with Dr. Brown, Maggie has seen a significant improvement
in her bones — without the use of prescription drugs.
“My gut told me Fosamax
was wrong.” Lee Anne, a registered nurse, considers herself a very
healthy person overall, so she was upset when her gynecologist suggested she start
taking Fosamax. Her local health food store recommended Dr. Brown’s book,
so Lee Anne read it. She was “blown away” by its optimism and logical
approach to bone health. After her appointment with Susan, Lee Anne is dedicated
to following Dr. Brown’s advice for supplementation, basic nutrition, and
lifestyle. Now, she wants to shout about how great she feels.
“I like the natural way
of doing anything. For me, it’s so much more effective.” I first
heard about Dr. Brown when she was interviewed on a radio show. As a result, I bought
her book Better Bones, Better Body. I was totally fascinated by the way
she approached bone health from a natural point of view, rather than just putting
you on a prescription.
“Don’t be afraid
to look at alternatives” After being told by three different doctors
that she needed Fosamax, Meghan, 63, knew it was time to find an alternative for
her bones. She found Dr. Brown and worked on a plan to build back bone naturally.
Not only has her DEXA scan improved, but Meghan feels much healthier overall!
“Two positive outcomes”
Elizabeth, 69, had a family history of osteoporosis and noticed she was losing height.
Just after starting her Fosamax prescription, she was diagnosed with Crohn’s
disease and had a feeling it was related to the Fosamax. Since working with Dr.
Brown, she’s improved two major health issues in her life naturally: osteoporosis
and Crohn’s.
“When you fill a rain
barrel, it’s one teaspoon at a time” Dora, 59, was in extreme
pain after her hysterectomy and gallbladder surgery. On top of that, she had terrible
hot flashes and osteoporosis. She found out about Dr. Brown and knew instantly she
was in good hands. Now her pain is gone, she’s building her bones, and menopause
is a thing of the past.
