Althea was diagnosed with Lyme disease before the birth of her daughter, and thought she had been treated successfully with antibiotics. She enjoyed an uncomplicated pregnancy and normal delivery, and everything seemed fine until about half a year postpartum, when her knees suddenly collapsed beneath her one day, and the symptoms of Lyme disease flared with a vengeance.
