Ask Emily — menopause
QUESTION:
What symptoms can I expect during menopause?
ANSWER:
In the years surrounding menopause, you can expect a wide range of symptoms. Because
each woman is different, there is no set pattern to
menopausal symptoms. We do know that many women experience various combinations
of hot flashes, anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, irritability, mood swings, depression,
diminished sexual desire, irregular periods, weight gain, vaginal dryness, bloating
or gas, headaches, joint pain or stiffness. Adrenal imbalance may also develop.
Symptoms also vary widely in frequency and intensity, and some women may have very
few.
