Ask Emily — bone health

QUESTION:

How can I prevent osteoporosis?

ANSWER:

The best ways to prevent osteoporosis are to feed your bones and use your bones. This means including some form of exercise every day, eating a balanced diet that includes leafy green vegetables, fruit, whole grains and seaweed and taking a high-quality nutritional supplement that contains calcium, magnesium, vitamins A, D, K, B6 and B12, and folic acid. We also encourage you to supplement with a high-quality Omega-3 product. Try to avoid soda and caffeine. These can both weaken your bones.
